Mission & Vision

Our Mission

Colonial PVA exists to restore hope and quality of life to veterans living with spinal cord injuries and disorders, their families, and their caregivers — and to make sure no one faces that journey alone.

The Colonial Chapter of the Paralyzed Veterans of America is dedicated to improving the quality of life for veterans living with spinal cord injuries and disorders and to protecting their civil rights. We advocate for access to VA healthcare and barrier-free access to the community. Our goal is to ensure the health and well-being of our members and all paralyzed veterans through education, information and referral, medical research, and physical, psychological, and recreational therapy — across Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, Philadelphia, and Washington DC.

Our Vision

A world where every veteran living with a spinal cord injury or disorder can live fully — with independence, dignity, and purpose — and where no one has to figure out what that looks like alone. Colonial PVA exists to be the place where people discover what is still possible, often for the first time. Isolation turns into community. Uncertainty turns into confidence. The possibilities are endless, and we will keep finding ways to open every door. No one is ever left behind.

What We Offer

Our programs are built around what our members want to do with their lives, not just what they need to manage. They span:

Peer-led.
We are a peer-led community of veterans who understand this journey because we live it every day. The guidance here comes from lived experience - not from theory.
Family first.
Colonial PVA is a family - first and always. Members, caregivers, spouses, and families are all held here. Once someone joins this community, they are never alone on this journey.
Always free.
Membership and programs will always be free. No barriers. No cost. Just people who understand, ready to stand beside you.
Proactive.
Colonial PVA doesn't wait. Outreach calls, wellness check-ins, and regular contact across every program mean no member quietly disappears.
No one left behind.
We show up for each other. We lift each other up. We don't walk away when things get hard. We will never leave our veterans behind.
