Grants and Awards

Funding that aligns with the mission of the PVA Research and Education Foundations and addresses critical needs.

Colonial PVA distributes grants and awards to support members, caregivers, VA Medical Centers, and partner organizations. In 2024, the chapter distributed $16,152 in grants and awards. Every dollar goes toward removing a barrier between a veteran or caregiver and the life they deserve.

All grants are free to apply for. There are no fees.

Our Grant Programs

Accessibility Needs Grant

For individuals with disabilities living in Delaware who need financial assistance, the Accessibility Needs Grant covers essential equipment and home modifications including wheelchairs, ramps, stairlifts, roll-in showers, and mobility vehicle assistance. The grant is open to anyone with a disability in Delaware — veteran status is not required. Visit the Accessibility Needs Program page to learn more and apply.

Adaptive Sports & Recreation Grant

Up to $1,000 annually per member to support participation in adaptive sports, fitness programs, recreational activities, and related equipment. Members choose the activity. We fund it.

Attendant Funding Grant

Up to $500 annually to help cover the cost of attendant care. Eligibility is based on income and assets.

Respite Care Grant

$500 annually to support in-home respite services for caregivers. Taking care of yourself is part of taking care of the veteran you love.

Member Reimbursement Grant

Up to $100 per fiscal year for recreational activities — dinner out, a movie, an event, anything that gets you out and living. Submit your receipts to the chapter office by the end of the fiscal year.
