H.E.A.R.T. Program

(Hoskins Education and Reemployment Training)

A 24-week paid fellowship that equips paralyzed and disabled veterans with the personalized training, tools, and support to pursue fulfilling, lasting careers.

Most vocational programs hand you a list and ask you to pick one. H.E.A.R.T. starts somewhere different. Before anything else, we sit down with each fellow and ask about their past, their skills, and the work they've always imagined doing. Then the program builds around that. Fellows are paid $15 an hour for 12 hours a week - structured carefully to stay beneath the threshold that would affect Social Security Disability benefits. Every piece of equipment, every course, every resource a fellow needs is provided at no cost.

How the H.E.A.R.T. Program Works

Every piece of equipment, every course, every resource a fellow needs is provided at no cost to build your chosen career.

Personalized Career Planning
Each fellow works one-on-one with a vocational counselor to map a career path based on their existing skills and goals. There are no preset tracks — the plan is built around the person.
Paid Training
Fellows receive $15 per hour for 12 hours of work per week throughout the 24-week program. The pay structure is designed specifically to protect Social Security Disability income.
Free Coursework
Fellows take self-paced courses through the Saylor Academy, a free online learning platform. Two courses are required for every fellow: communications and stress and coping. Both have changed lives.
Everything Provided
Computers, professional clothing, cameras, specialized equipment — whatever a fellow needs to pursue their chosen career is provided in full.
Peer Mentorship
Paired with a trained mentor who shares your disorder or career field. Guidance from someone who has lived this journey and understands the challenges.
